Ingredients

For the Patties
  • 1 lb Ground Beef or Chicken Ground turkey can be used as a lighter option.
  • 1 cup Homemade Teriyaki Sauce Store-bought teriyaki sauce can be used for convenience.
For the Toppings
  • 4 slices Fresh Pineapple Rings Fresh is best, but canned can work in a pinch.
  • ½ cup Mayonnaise Substitute with Greek yogurt for a healthier twist.
  • 2 cups Fresh Greens Lettuce or spinach; try arugula for a peppery kick.
For the Buns
  • 4 buns Burger Buns Gluten-free options are available too.

Equipment

  • Grill or Skillet

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef or chicken with salt and pepper. Form the mixture into even burger patties, about ½ inch thick. Let rest for 10 minutes as you preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Once the grill or skillet is hot, place the patties on it. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  3. While the patties are cooking, grill fresh pineapple rings for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and charred.
  4. Toast your burger buns on the grill or in a toaster. Spread mayonnaise on both sides of the buns.
  5. Assemble the burgers starting with the bottom bun, then adding fresh greens, the cooked patty, teriyaki sauce, and caramelized pineapple before placing the top bun.
  6. Serve immediately while hot, optionally pairing with sweet potato fries or a tropical salad.
