Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine 1.5 cups of sliced fresh strawberries, 1 cup of granulated sugar, and 1 cup of water. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir occasionally until the mixture comes to a simmer, around 5 minutes.
- Continue to simmer the strawberry mixture for about 10 minutes, allowing the strawberries to break down and meld with the sugar.
- After the syrup has cooled for about 10 minutes, strain it through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl to remove the solid bits of strawberry.
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add 1 ounce of rye whiskey, 1 ounce of Amaro Nonino, ½ ounce of freshly squeezed lemon juice, and ½ ounce of the homemade strawberry syrup.
- Cap the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
- Strain the cocktail into an ice-filled glass, such as an Old Fashioned glass.
- To elevate your Sun-Kissed Sipper, garnish the cocktail with a sprinkle of crushed pink peppercorn for an aromatic touch.
