  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup salted butter melted; or use unsalted and add a pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract highly recommended
For the Filling
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries washed and chopped; if using frozen, thaw and drain
For the Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract for flavor

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, and melted salted butter. Stir in pure vanilla extract until crumbs form.
  3. Press two-thirds of the crumb mixture into the prepared pan and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.
  4. Chop fresh strawberries into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  5. Once the crust is golden, spread the strawberries evenly over the crust, then sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture on top.
  6. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  7. Let cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before making the glaze.
  8. Whisk together powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until smooth, then drizzle over cooled bars.
  9. Slice into squares and serve at room temperature or slightly chilled.
