Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare Ingredients: Wash and chop onion, bell pepper, and celery into small pieces. Gather Cajun seasoning, garlic, rice, sausage, and broth.
  2. Cook Sausage: Heat a skillet over medium heat, add sliced sausage, and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned. Set sausage aside.
  3. Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add oil if needed, toss in onion, bell pepper, and celery. Sauté for 5-6 minutes until onion is translucent.
  4. Add Garlic and Seasoning: Stir in minced garlic and Cajun seasoning. Sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  5. Combine Rice & Broth: Add rice to skillet, stir well, pour in broth and add bay leaves. Bring to gentle boil.
  6. Simmer: Reduce heat to low, cover skillet and let it simmer for 20 minutes.
  7. Add Shrimp: Fold in shrimp during last 5 minutes of cooking. Cover skillet until shrimp is opaque.
  8. Garnish & Serve: Fluff rice with a fork, remove bay leaves, serve garnished with chopped green onions.
