Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder optional
  • 1 tablespoon fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme, optional

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder (if using). Whisk together until well blended.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the milk and vegetable oil. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. If using fresh herbs, fold them in gently.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Remove from the oven and let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
