Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with foil. Place a wire rack on top.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine brown sugar, water, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and optional spices to create a thick paste.
  3. Dredge each thick-cut bacon strip in the brown sugar mixture and arrange in a single layer on the wire rack.
  4. Bake the bacon for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown.
  5. While the bacon cools, slice the baguette and brush both sides with olive oil, then toast for 8–10 minutes.
  6. Spread goat cheese on each toasted baguette slice, top with chopped candied bacon, and drizzle with sweetener.
  7. Garnish with fresh herbs or candied pecans and serve immediately.
