Bacon Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack atop it.
- In a mixing bowl, blend together brown sugar, water, black pepper, cayenne, and red pepper flakes.
- Lay the coated bacon strips on the wire rack and bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Crostini Preparation
- Slice the baguette into 24 rounds about 1/2 inch thick.
- Brush each slice with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
- Toast in the oven for 8-10 minutes until golden-brown and crispy.
Assembly
- Once the bacon has cooled, chop it into bite-sized pieces.
- Spread goat cheese on each crostini, top with the chopped bacon, and drizzle with maple syrup or honey.
- Garnish with fresh herbs and candied pecans if using, and serve immediately.
