Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the sliced smoked sausage. Sear for about 5-7 minutes until browned and slightly crispy.
  3. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a medium pot over medium heat. Add the diced onion, sautéing for 3-4 minutes until soft and translucent.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  5. Lower the heat slightly, add the softened cream cheese, mixing until it melts. Gradually pour in the heavy whipping cream, whisking for 3-5 minutes until thickened.
  6. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted. Season with salt and pepper if desired.
  7. In a large bowl, combine the lightly steamed cauliflower, broccoli, and sautéed sausage. Pour the cheese sauce over and mix until well coated.
  8. Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish and bake for 15-20 minutes, until bubbling and golden brown.
