For the Turkey Patties

  • 1 cup Yellow Onion Finely chopped.
  • 1 medium Jalapeño Seeded and minced for milder heat.
  • 2 tablespoons Honey Adds sweetness; can substitute with maple syrup.
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika Regular paprika can be used if needed.
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme Fresh is ideal, but dried works too.
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Omit for a milder flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon Oil for Cooking Olive or avocado oil are great options.
For Serving
  • 4 pieces Hamburger Buns Use gluten-free if necessary.
  • 1 cup Corn Salsa Fresh or canned corn can be used.
For the Avocado Crema
  • 1 medium Avocado Ripe for the best texture.
  • 1/4 cup Cilantro Optional based on preference.
  • 1/2 cup Sour Cream or Greek Yogurt Use dairy-free yogurt for a dairy-free version.
  • 1 tablespoon Lime Juice Substitute with lemon juice if necessary.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, chopped onion, minced jalapeño, honey, smoked paprika, thyme, cumin, and salt. Mix until well incorporated.
  2. Form the mixture into 3-4 patties, making a slight well in the center of each.
  3. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat with a drizzle of oil.
  4. Cook the patties for about 5 minutes on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 5 minutes.
  5. For the avocado crema, blend avocado, cilantro, sour cream, lime juice, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  6. Toast the hamburger buns cut-side down in the same skillet until golden brown.
  7. Assemble the burgers by spreading avocado crema on the bottom bun, adding a turkey patty, corn salsa, and topping with the other half of the bun.
