Step-by-Step Instructions for Easy Teriyaki Chicken
  1. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, honey or brown sugar, rice vinegar, and water. Add minced fresh ginger and garlic. Whisk until well blended and sugar is dissolved. Set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season chicken thighs with salt and pepper, then add to the skillet. Sear for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  3. Pour the prepared teriyaki sauce over the cooked chicken. Stir vigorously to coat evenly and allow to bubble for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Pour into the skillet, stirring continuously for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
