For the Gravy
  • 1 Onion Sliced
  • 4 cups Beef Broth Can substitute with vegetable broth
  • 1 packet Brown Gravy Mix Use homemade for a healthier option
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce Soy sauce can be used as a substitute
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Fresh minced garlic can be used
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch Optional, for thickening the gravy
For the Comforting Base
  • 6 servings Mashed Potatoes Instant or homemade

Method
 

Recipe Instructions
  1. Generously season the beef chuck roast with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Allow it to sit for about 10 minutes.
  2. Place the sliced onion at the bottom of the slow cooker. Position the seasoned beef roast on top of the onions.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together the beef broth, brown gravy mix, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth. Pour over the beef.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on low for 8 hours.
  5. Once cooked, remove the beef. If desired, whisk cornstarch slurry into the juices to thicken, then return the beef.
  6. Serve on a bed of fluffy mashed potatoes topped with shredded beef and gravy.
