For the Cream Layer
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese Use full-fat, at room temperature for best texture.
  • ½ cup Granulated Sugar Sweetens the cream cheese layer.
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract Almond extract is a suitable alternative.
  • 8 oz Cool Whip Can substitute with homemade whipped cream.
For the Glaze
  • 3 tbsp Cornstarch Used for thickening the guava glaze.
  • ½ cup Water Combined with cornstarch to create a slurry.
  • ½ cup Granulated Sugar To sweeten the guava glaze.
  • ¾ cup Sweetened Coconut Flakes Optional garnish.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine strawberry cake mix, 1.5 cups of guava nectar, 3 eggs, and ⅓ cup coconut oil. Mix until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 24 to 26 minutes until done.
  4. Prepare the cream cheese layer by beating cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until fluffy, then fold in Cool Whip.
  5. Make the guava glaze by boiling 2.5 cups of guava nectar with ½ cup sugar. Thicken with the cornstarch slurry.
  6. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the cooled cake, then pour the guava glaze on top.
  7. Chill the cake for at least 2 hours before serving, optionally garnish with coconut flakes.
