  • 1 tablespoon Granulated Sugar can substitute honey
  • 2 teaspoons Instant Dry Yeast fresh yeast can be used
  • 1 teaspoon Salt don't omit for best taste
  • 3 cloves Minced Garlic fresh or powdered garlic
  • 2 teaspoons Dried Herbs can swap for fresh herbs
  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour can also use whole wheat
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese mozzarella or provolone can be used

  • 1 tablespoon Melted Butter optional but recommended

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Activate the Yeast: In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, granulated sugar, and instant dry yeast. Stir and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix in Flavorings: Add salt, minced garlic, and dried herbs to the yeast mixture. Stir to combine.
  3. Combine the Dry Ingredients: Gradually add all-purpose flour and grated Parmesan cheese, mixing until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. First Rise: Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  6. Shape the Loaves: Punch down the dough, divide in half, shape into loaves, place on a greased baking sheet, and let rise for another 15-20 minutes.
  7. Preheat and Prepare for Baking: Preheat oven to 375°F, brush loaves with melted butter.
  8. Bake the Bread: Bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown and hollow sounding when tapped.
  9. Cool and Serve: Cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
