  • 1 loaf French Bread Day-old is preferable.
  • 6 large Eggs
  • 2 cups Half and Half Substitute with whole milk for a lighter version.
  • 1/2 cups Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 cups Fresh/Frozen Blueberries Toss with a little flour to prevent sinking.
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese Ensure it’s softened for easy mixing.
  • 1/4 cups Raw Sugar Optional, for topping.
For the Sauce
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 cups Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 1 cup Blueberries

Method
 

Preparation Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cut the French bread into 1-inch cubes and arrange in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, half and half, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  4. Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring they are all coated. Let sit for a few minutes.
  5. Dollop cream cheese and blueberries on top of the bread mixture, pressing down to mix slightly.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  7. Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and set in the center.
  8. While the casserole cools, combine water, sugar, and cornstarch in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until thickened.
  9. Gently fold in blueberries until they burst, creating a sauce.
  10. Slice and serve the casserole warm with blueberry sauce drizzled on top.
