Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Gather melted butter, flour, sugar, and an 8x8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar, melted butter, and 1 cup of all-purpose flour until it forms coarse crumbs.
  3. Press half of the crumb mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking pan to create the base.
  4. In a separate bowl, fold together the chopped fresh rhubarb with the remaining sugar, then spread evenly over the pressed crust.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the rhubarb filling and gently press down.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Allow the rhubarb squares to cool completely in the pan for at least 20-30 minutes before cutting into squares.
