- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9x5 inch loaf pan with grease and parchment paper.
- In a medium mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth, then whisk in the sugar, egg, and melted butter.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and mix until no dry flour remains, folding in chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle additional chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for 50 minutes and check doneness with a toothpick. If it comes out clean, it’s ready.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
