  1. Prepare the crab by draining and gently patting dry the lump crab meat with paper towels.
  2. In a shallow bowl, combine breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Prepare a second shallow bowl with a beaten egg and a plate with a light dusting of flour.
  4. Dip the floured crab meat into the egg, then roll in the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until it shimmers but isn’t smoking.
  6. Fry the breaded crab pieces in batches for about 3–4 minutes on each side.
