Method
- In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
- Once boiling, add the black tea leaves or tea bags and let steep for 5 minutes.
- Remove the tea leaves or bags and reduce the heat to low.
- Stir in the coconut milk, honey, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, black pepper, and salt.
- Heat the mixture gently for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until warmed through. Do not let it boil.
- Taste and adjust sweetness if needed by adding more honey.
- Pour the chai into mugs and enjoy warm.
