Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons black tea leaves or 2 tea bags
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tablespoons honey or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of salt

Method
 

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
  2. Once boiling, add the black tea leaves or tea bags and let steep for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the tea leaves or bags and reduce the heat to low.
  4. Stir in the coconut milk, honey, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, black pepper, and salt.
  5. Heat the mixture gently for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until warmed through. Do not let it boil.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed by adding more honey.
  7. Pour the chai into mugs and enjoy warm.
