Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 sleeve about 40 Saltine crackers
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for topping

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and let it boil for 3 minutes without stirring.
  3. Arrange the Saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Pour the hot butter mixture evenly over the crackers.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, until bubbly. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top. Let sit for a minute to soften, then spread the melted chocolate evenly.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the chocolate layer.
  6. Allow to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour until fully set. Once set, break into pieces and serve.
