Preparation Steps
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, onion, garlic powder, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and half of the ketchup in a large mixing bowl. Transfer the meat mixture into a greased 9x9-inch baking dish, pressing it down evenly, and spread the remaining ketchup as a topping.
- Bake the meatloaf for about 20 to 25 minutes, or until it's cooked through.
- Spread a layer of prepared mashed potatoes on top of the meatloaf, then sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon over the potatoes.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let the casserole cool for 5 to 10 minutes, then garnish with chopped green onions or chives before serving.
