Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients: buttermilk, eggs, and melted butter.
  4. Fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, then gently fold in the chopped apples.
  5. Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity three-quarters full. Bake for 12–15 minutes.
  6. Allow the donuts to cool for a few minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Whisk together the glaze ingredients until smooth, adjusting milk for desired thickness.
  8. Dip the tops of the cooled donuts into the glaze and set on a wire rack to firm up.
