  • 2 pounds pork belly, skin scored
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes until well combined.
  3. Place the scored pork belly in a baking dish and pour the marinade over it, ensuring the pork is well coated. Cover the dish with aluminum foil.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the pork is tender.
  5. Remove the foil and increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C). Brush the pork belly with sesame oil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and caramelized.
  6. Once done, remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add more red pepper flakes or a dash of sriracha to the marinade.
  • Serve with steamed rice or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
