Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
2 cups cooked white rice
1 cup shredded carrots
1 cup chopped green onions
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using).
Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
To serve, place a scoop of cooked rice in a bowl, top with the Korean beef mixture, and garnish with shredded carrots, chopped green onions, and sesame seeds.
Notes
For added flavor, marinate the ground beef in soy sauce and sesame oil for 30 minutes before cooking.
You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
For a spicy kick, add sliced jalapeños on top before serving.
