Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Dredge each piece of chicken in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  3. Dip the floured chicken into the beaten eggs, then coat with panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  5. Once hot, add the chicken pieces in batches, cooking for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Remove the chicken and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. In a separate saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
  8. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, and cook for about 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  9. Add the cooked chicken to the sauce, tossing to coat evenly.
  10. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and stir to combine.
  11. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, you can bake the chicken at 400°F for 20-25 minutes instead of frying.
  • For added flavor, marinate the chicken in a mixture of soy sauce, garlic, and ginger for 30 minutes before cooking.
